Today is your day!

“Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So... get on your way!” (Dr. Seuss)

Within the human spirit is a desire to dream, to hope for a better tomorrow. Flowing within our blood is the yearning to aspire, to become. This feeling may be dormant or raging like a fire. But it is still there no matter who we are.

So whether this desire is a spark or a furious flame, I give everyone a challenge.

Challenge: Take 15 minutes today (sit down) and focus on your future. Use those 15 minutes and start making your personal “life plan”.

A “life plan” is thinking (in detail) who you want to be at the end of your life, and making a plan to get there.

For example, if you want to dramatically increase your chances of being a healthy octogenarian, then spend a ton of time with loved ones, build those relationships, eat a ton of vegetables/fruits, exercise often, minimize your fake food intake, strengthen your faith, and find your “ikigai” (Blue Zone Study).

With that said, sometimes things don’t work out no matter how hard we plan. But that’s not the point, the point is taking time to make a plan and then walking that path. You see, the path we walk to our dream is so much more important than the dream itself. For it is by walking the path that we forge celestial-traits into the armor of our soul. The dream only gains value because of the time and effort we’ve given to walking the path.

Start small, don’t overdo it today. Just take 15 minutes. Then as you take additional time in the coming weeks and months, you will see in greater detail what you need to do to become who you desire.

Lastly, I want to share a rule I strive to apply as I design my life. It is this, “only do those things that my 90-year-old self will thank me for.” This simple rule has been a blessing in so many ways. I hope it will help you too.

Good luck everyone! You can do this!
